How will my firewood be delivered?
All our bulk firewood orders are delivered palletised, meaning your firewood is securely stacked and wrapped on a pallet.
Your order will arrive on a tail-lift lorry, usually between 7.5T and 18T, and will be unloaded using a tail lift and pallet truck.
Is delivery kerbside, or can you bring it up my drive?
Delivery is kerbside only as standard.
This means our delivery partner will place the pallet at the closest safe and accessible point outside your property.
If the driver can safely move the pallet onto a flat, solid driveway, they may do so — but this is always at the driver’s discretion on the day and access for the delivery vehicle.
We cannot guarantee delivery to a driveway, garden, garage, log store, back garden, or any area away from the kerbside.
The only exception is if you have selected our Hand Unload Delivery — No Pallet Left Behind service at checkout
What is kerbside pallet delivery?
Kerbside pallet delivery means the pallet is lowered from the lorry using a tail lift, then moved with a manual pallet truck.
Pallet trucks can only move safely on flat, firm, level ground, such as:
-
Tarmac
-
Smooth concrete
-
Level block paving
They cannot safely move across unsuitable surfaces or obstacles.
Can the pallet truck go over gravel, grass, or slopes?
No. Pallet trucks are not suitable for:
-
Gravel
-
Grass
-
Mud
-
Soil
-
Steep driveways (56 nets weighs 1/2 a tonne!)
-
Inclines or slopes
-
Loose surfaces
-
Rough or uneven ground
-
Steps or raised areas
If your delivery point includes any of the above, the pallet will usually be left at the nearest safe kerbside location.
Can you lift the pallet over a wall, kerb, steps, or through a gate?
Unfortunately not.
The pallet cannot be lifted, carried, dragged, or moved by hand. It also cannot be lifted over:
-
Walls
-
Fences
-
Steps
-
Raised kerbs
-
Narrow gates
-
Tight paths
-
Obstacles
The delivery must be possible using the lorry tail lift and pallet truck only. (Unless you select Hand unload delivery)
What kind of vehicle do you deliver on?
Your firewood is delivered on a large tail-lift lorry, usually between 7.5 tonnes and 18 tonnes.
These are 2.5m wide and up to 10m long, so please consider this for access.
Please tell us before ordering if your road has:
-
Narrow access
-
Tight turns
-
Low branches
-
Low bridges
-
Weight restrictions
-
Steep or awkward access
-
Limited turning space
If the lorry cannot safely reach your property, delivery may be made to the nearest safe accessible point.
Do I need to be in for delivery?
It helps, but it is not always essential.
If you are not going to be in, please make sure access is clear and there is a safe kerbside location for the pallet to be left.
You can leave delivery notes at checkout, but the final drop location is always subject to what the driver can safely do on the day. You also will accept responsibility for the delivery on dropped off if you choose to not be in.
What is the Hand Unload Delivery — No Pallet Left Behind service?
For our 28 net and 42 net options, we offer a Hand Unload Delivery — No Pallet Left Behind service for an extra charge.
With this service, your firewood is unloaded by hand and the pallet is taken away, so you are not left with a pallet to dispose of.
This is a great option if you want a tidier delivery or cannot manage a pallet afterwards or just don't want to lift anything.
Please note: access still needs to be safe and reasonable for the driver.
Is the pallet returnable?
No. The pallet is not returnable.
It is included as part of the delivery and is yours to keep, reuse, recycle, or chop up for kindling if you’re feeling productive.
If you select our Hand Unload Delivery — No Pallet Left Behind service, the pallet will be taken away after unloading.
What do I need to do before delivery day?
Please make sure:
-
The delivery area is clear
-
Cars are moved if they block access
-
The drop point is flat, firm, and safe
-
Any gates are open if needed
-
We know in advance about narrow lanes, low branches, weight limits, or restricted access
A little prep makes delivery much smoother and helps avoid any log-related drama.
What happens if access is not suitable?
If the lorry or pallet truck cannot safely access your requested delivery point, the driver may leave the pallet at the nearest safe kerbside location.
In some cases, delivery may need to be rearranged and additional charges of £40 may apply.
Please contact us before ordering if you are unsure about access.
Can the driver always put it exactly where I want it?
No — not always.
The driver will place the pallet where it can be unloaded and moved safely using the tail lift and pallet truck.
Any movement beyond kerbside is a bonus, not a promise.
Unsure about your access?
If you have a gravel drive, steep driveway, tight access, narrow road, grassed area, steps, or any concerns at all, please contact us before ordering via our online chat in the bottom right or webform on our contact page.
We would much rather help upfront than have a delivery-day headache.
